Thornhill Project: Photo Tour

We have been wanting to reveal this project for awhile and we finally get to show it to you in its entirety. This project had many layers. The clients were moving into their new home but before they did, they wanted to make updates to the spaces to make it their own.

On the list was a 2nd level reno where we moved a wall to create a guest bedroom and placed a laundry room at the end of the hall next to the master bedroom. We updated 2 bathrooms with new fixtures, mirrors and decor. We also redid the hardwood floors on the main level and the carpet throughout. Also on the list was to tear out the outdated cabinetry, replace all of the doors in the house including their hardware and created a beautiful great room space with 2 seating areas and large dining room. Once we were done, the family was ready to move in! Check out the space below!

After

The transformation in this space gets us every time (check out the “before” below)! The light coziness of this space just makes you want to sit down and stay awhile!

Before

The color on the walls were closing in the space and the carpet was creating a divide that didn’t need to be there. Then of course there are those built-ins. Those had to go!

Starting with the flooring (after tearing out the built-ins), we tore out the carpet, sanded down the floors and stained them a beautiful and timeless custom medium oak color. We lightened up the walls with Sherwin Williams First Star which resides in the SW white family but has small hints of grey undertones, making it perfect against all of the white trim and cabinetry.

The Dining Space

The home owners had this beautiful extendable table custom made to fit the space. The design behind the great room and dining spaces was to layer creams with pops of navy. So Carver Junk Company refinished these pieces in a beautiful navy.

This light fixture was so key to the space and fit the table perfectly. We wanted to mix metals throughout the home and this chrome and bronze fixture was perfect for doing that.

The open shelves were custom made by the same company that made the tables throughout the great room. We paired then with these heavy duty brackets (shop all items below).

To soften the space we added the 2 toned window treatments which brought in the tone on tone cream we had throughout the great room.

Seating Area

After incorporating the seating space into their home, the homeowners sip coffee here and enjoy the view.

It’s the perfect spot to sit back and relax!

We added lanterns to the space to create a visual space division without it feeling closed off. These beauties are battery operated and come with a remote so you getting that candle lit ambiance is a breeze. Details that weren’t overlooked 😉

This console table was custom built to match the dining table and the coffee table in the family room space. This helps great that cohesion throughout the space.

Family Room

Note that we didn’t remove the built-in cabinets around the fireplace. We painted those white along with the mantel and the brick as well as painted the firebox all black. We added this beautiful custom wood art piece above the fireplace to bring the eye up which was custom made by a Carver Junk Company vendor. This brought together all of the wood tones used in the space, including the painted white.

Again, here we layered cream tones with pops of navy and natural wood elements.

The creams and whites throughout are so calming in this space.

Carver Junk Company custom made the media stand and we had them stain the top to again bring in the natural wood tones of the other pieces. Three different artists made the media console, coffee table and wood art piece and all beautifully coordinate with eat other!

These pillows were just amazingly beautiful and perfect for the space! We use a fantastic vendor through Etsy that we will be partnering with to create our own EH Design pillow line. We have linked the pillows you see here below!

Powder Room

We wish we had a before picture of this space for you because the transformation was beautiful! The vanity was existing and in great shape but needed a coat of paint so we chose Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray. We also changed out the hardware and mixed chrome and black metals in this space, matching the hardware to the new faucet and the other metals in black.

We also added this fantastic peel and stick wallpaper that has a beautiful subtle pattern.

The toilet paper holder is integrated in the wall here so we even painted these black to match!

Kids Bath

Upstairs the kids bath needed a bit of an update so we replaced the flooring, added new hardware, faucet, mirror and light fixture.

Laundry Room

On the 2nd floor we added a laundry room next to the master bedroom. We also added these double doors to the master bedroom.

As mentioned earlier, we also replaced the carpet throughout the home to this beautiful light grey carpet. We replaced all of the hollow doors in the house with these updated 3 panel doors and added black hardware on each of the doors. We painted the entire home and replaced most all of the light fixtures. There were a lot of details of the home that we changed out to make it move in ready for the new homeowners.
