3. DIY Home Improvement High Five

Each week for the past few weeks has been gogeous so we have taken thr projects outside. Being in a rental in between homes, we had to keep a few things in mind:

  1. Keep cost low

  2. Structural changes were out of the question

Our goal is to leave this place better than when we found it. So, the past few weeks have been creating a tad bit of curb appeal by creating a lovely garden up front. You can check out weeks past HERE!

This week we took to Home Depot for some flowers. We used pots we already had and purchased soil and the flowers.

4. Family and Friends Related High Five

This past week was Cinco de Mayo so we decided to celebrate by grabbing some food and some Margaretas and Coronas from a favorite local restaurant, Maynard’s.

Even though we haven’t been able to enjoy dinner out, we have loved ordering food to go from restaurants, which also helps them during this time where they can’t be open.

Also, it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday. If you missed our Gift Round-Up, check that out! Doesn’t have to be Mothers Day to get these great finds!

5. General Related High Five

We started General Related High Five off by giving you a glimpse into our world as a family during this pandemic and each week we update you. We feel it’s important to document these stages for a couple of reasons.

  1. We’re all in this together and even though are stories are not the same, there are common themes that run through them. It’s important to know you’re not alone in this.

  2. We want to be able to read these back and document this time because it is high unprecedented.

So this weeks update…

With each week I am feeling more and more relieved. I am feeling like the work/schooling balance between Addi (8 years old/2nd grade) and I has become our new normal. Now I’m not saying it’s perfect by any stretch of the imagination. However, it is a routine and I find great comfort in routine.

I have been able to exercise more which for me is a huge outlet! I love to get outside and run. This is great for our puppy, me and Addi who usually rides her bike alongside me. Side note: I used to push her in the stroller while I ran and when I’d pass by another runner with a kiddo riding their bike alongside, I used to imagine us doing the same thing. So I think about that in all this that we didn’t start to do this until having her home for schooling when the pandemic hit. It’s all about finding the good, right?!

I am thankful that I feel like mentally and emotionally I am making my way to the other side of this. I just cross my fingers that I’m not yanked to the other side suddenly again. I truly hope you are all feeling a bit of relief and if not yet, in some capacity soon!

Love you all! Stay healthy! See you next week!
