INSPIRED EXCELLENCE DESIGNED FOR YOU

Chanhassen Project: Family Room Reveal

We are so excited to show you the Family Room reveal of our Chanhassen Project!  This project included several more areas and was larger than the family room but we're breaking it up and giving it to you in smaller doses so you can really take in all of the details!  You're going to love this transformation!

These wonderful homeowners were looking to update their entire main level with everything from furniture, rugs, lighting, decor, art, etc.  We were so excited for this project and couldn't wait to get started.

Of course you'll also be able to "Shop the Post" and purchase any of the items you see in these spaces so don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for these sections to get the look!

Diving into the Details of the Design

We started by using a light paint color with slightly blue undertone to freshen up the space and set the stage for the design.  We love to mix modern elements of design with more traditional ones and this is exactly what we did in this space!

The homeowners wanted to use some of their existing art work throughout the home which contained blues and reds which set the tone for the design.  We updated the color palette however to include brighter, crisper tones of those colors.  We also made blue the more dominate accent color because it acts as a neutral and added pops of red to bring in a touch of color.

We grounded the space with this beautiful rug from Serena and Lily.  It's hard to decide what our favorite part of the design is, but this area rug is high on the list.  To continue with mixing modern with traditional elements, we chose this beautiful tufted ottoman in a neutral similar to the sofa.  A great place to kick up your feet and relax.

We just love all of the details that went into this space.  We wanted to keep it simple but put a lot of thought into what those details would be.  This beautiful end table from Pottery Barn brought in the light wood color from the ottoman and also keeps the space light with the marble top.  We are so in love with this table lamp as well!  It's the perfect amount of brass and is nice and airy!

Maybe it's these amazing leather swivel chairs from West Elm that we can't get enough of!  The cognac color is PERFECT!  It adds that perfect touch of warmth to the space and they are so beyond comfortable.  A bit of a secret here...we also used this color to tie in the woodwork.  We don't fight oak woodwork and flooring - we work with it!

The swivel aspect was also great for this space.  You will see in the coming weeks when we reveal the other rooms, that the family room connects to the eat-in dining and kitchen, making this space the main hub of the home, so the swivel of the chairs allows for more conversation and create a more open and inviting feel.

The art, and what was used on the walls for this entire project were very important to the homeowners.  They didn't just want any art on the walls.  They wanted there to be thought and purpose behind it all.

The art on this wall in particular is some of our favorite in this room!  The two pieces in the middle are original pieces from Missy Monson Art, a local artist who made these specifically for the homeowners! They were made to coordinate with the mantel piece of art and we and the homeowners could not be more pleased with how they turned out.

The other abstract pieces were made by yours truly, EH Design, and will be available for purchase soon.  We made these simple line art pieces so they wouldn't take away from Missy Monson's water colors.  We chose to frame the water colors in these amazing Lucite frames with brass hardware so nothing took away from the beauty of the pieces.  The others are framed in brass to coordinate with the table lamp and Lucite hardware.  The glass in the table lamp also allows the art to show through and not take away from anything.

The fireplace - the focal point of the room.  It was important that whatever was to be on the mantel, it was a beautiful piece of art.  The homeowners wanted this to be a bright and detailed landscape piece that stood out.  This is exactly what Missy Monson delivered! This piece definitely draws your eye to the fireplace and makes a statement.

All of the elements around the art, were kept neutral with a lot of open clear space so it didn't take away from how amazing the art piece is.  This also ties together the end table and the art on that wall as well.

The stools from West Elm for this space are so adorable. They add more of that rich navy and additional seating as well.  The homeowners can also pull these to any seating space in the room and use as foot stools as well.  LOVE.

And of course you cannot have an amazing space like this without some great greens!  We are so in love with these snake plants - they are amazing to look at and take little care.  This guy gives the corner height and brings the outdoors in!

Then there is this amazing gallery wall in the family room.  The homeowners really wanted a space to display their family photos and what better of a place to do that than this great big wall in the FAMILY room.  We chose to use color photos in the space to add color to the room but kept all of the frames black for consistency and added a few non-photo pieces in to break it up a bit.
